Cougar Hydraulic Vibrators
ROTARY HYDRAULIC VIBRATORS
Dimensions

weight setting
-
No.1,2 & 3 have mounting bolts and compression washers included and have a
drilled and tapped hole for safety cable or lift eye.
-
Sound produced in decibels - decibel reading taken with vibrator mounted on a
400 lb. steel plate at a distance of 3 ft. (.9m) from dB meter - A scale - slow
response. Noise levels may be greater than those listed dpending upon the
structure on which the vibrator is mounted. (Caution: Above 85 dB use ear
protection.)
-
Centrifugal force lb. = .0000284 x (in. lb.) x RPMsq.
-
N = Newtons = (lb. x 4.4482)
-
To convert in. lb. to Newtonmeter (Nm) = (in. lb. x 4.4482) / 39.37
-
RPM varies with oil flow.
-
Rule of thumb -
@ 1745 to 4600 RPM - 1 lb. (1 N) of force to 20 lbs. (2.0 kg) material in slope
section of bin.
@ 6000 to 9000 RPM - 1 lb. (1 N) of force to 10 lbs. (1 kg) material in slope
section of bin.
-
Oil flow controls speed (RPM). The oil flow needed to maintain speed may vary
with temperature and motor wear.
-
Average running pressure is taken with a vibrator mounted on a 400 lb. steel
test plate with an oil temperature of 100sF (37.7sC). On the job pressure may
vary with the work load and rigidity of the mount.
-
Inlet and outlet ports are marked on the motor - This motor rotates in one
direction only.
-
Force outputs listed here are calculated at the RPM listed, but a higher RPM
may be acceptable if the vibrator weights are set on a lower setting. You may
contact your dealer or the factory for the bearing life at higher speeds.
(Note: for models HC3-3500 and HL3-3500, the RPM listed is the maximum RPM for
all weight settings).

Specifications
Three styles of mounting make these vibrators extremely
versatile.
The Bolt-On style foot (H9-500, HA9-1600, HA4-3300) is used for all permanent
applications. The Clamp-On style foot (HL4-3000, HL3-3500) is used for rail car
unloading and other temporary applications. The Cradle-Lug style vibrator
(HC4-3000, HC3-3500) must be used with one of the brackets listed. Weld-On,
Clamp-On, Bolt-On, or Wedge Brackets. The wedge bracket is designed to fit all
female brackets commonly supplied on most rail cars and is the preferred method
of rail car unloading.
